caramel apple pie

Thanks to a pre-made pie crust in my freezer, a bag of pecans in my fridge, and a jar of dulce de leche in my cupboard, this pie only took a few minutes to assemble - but turned out to be SO GOOD!

Caramel Apple Pie
*adapted from The Pioneer Woman

1 whole pie crust
6 C. peeled and sliced Granny Smith Apples
1/2 lemon (juice)
1/2 C. sugar
4 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 C. flour
3/4 C. butter
1 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. oats
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 C. chopped pecans
1/2 C. (or more) dulce de leche or caramel sauce

Mix apples, lemon juice, sugar, flour and salt.

In a separate bowl, for the crumb topping, cut the butter into the flour, and then add the brown sugar, oats and salt.

Put apples in prepared pie crust and top with crumb mixture.

Cover with foil and bake at 375 for 25 min. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 min.

5 min. before you take the pie out, sprinkle the top with the pecans.

After the pie is out of the oven, drizzle with dulce de leche (or caramel sauce). I used dulce de leche and it was delish! Ta da!
